The ACE Program Batch 1

College of Business Administration.
Ms. Monami Sogo

I am Monami Sogo, a student of the Department of International Business in the College of Business Administration, studying abroad in Singapore at National University of Singapore (NUS) this semester and in Korea last semester at Seoul National University (SNU) as the first Batch of the ACE Program. For this article, I would like to talk about my experience during a school trip to Busan with ACE students from SNU and Rikkyo while I was studying abroad in Korea.

In November 2022, we went on a school trip to Busan with ACE students from SNU and Rikkyo. The main theme that we learned through this field trip was "food" which differs from region to region. The same Korean food is eaten differently in different areas, such as Seoul-style and Busan-style, and the Korean national dish "Gukbap (국밥)" is an example of this. Gukbap is served all over Korea, but in Busan, there is a local dish called "Dwaeji Gukbap (돼지국밥)", which is commonly eaten in Busan, and I had it with ACE students. The "Dwaeji" in Dwaeji Gukbap means "pork" in Korean, and it is a dish made by soup with boiling pork bones and adding pork, green onions and rice, along with condiments of your choice. Unlike Seoul's Gukbap, the broth of Dwaeji Gukbap is rich and the saltiness is perfect, making it a very tasty dish. It seems that there are almost no restaurants serving Dwaeji Gukbap in Seoul, so if you visit Busan, you should definitely try it. In addition to the experience of eating the Dwaeji Gukbap, the field trip was a very fulfilling experience that included eating seafood dishes unique to Busan and riding on a yacht.

After the Busan field trip, we made a video. In this video, the various activities we experienced on the Busan trip are explained, and I also narrated some parts. We put our hearts and souls into this video, so please take a look at it.
