The ACE Program Batch 1

College of Intercultural Communication. 3rd year student
Ms. Rino Hirayama

I am Rino Hirayama, a junior in the College of Intercultural Communication. I have been studying at Seoul National University since September 2022. At Seoul National University, I belong to the College of Liberal Studies. Last semester, I took classes in a wide range of fields, not limited to my major at Rikkyo University. For example, I took a class called “Advanced English: Culture and Society”, which uses British films as class materials. We analyzed each episode from multiple perspectives including sociology and philosophy, and had discussions with classmates. It was a good opportunity to use English actively, and was a stimulating experience for me, surrounded by amazing classmates. Furthermore, in “Selected Topics Seminar 4”, we critically discussed the SDGs in East Asia with various themes such as energy policy, environmental issues, healthcare, etc. I was able to critically analyze the realistic ways to solve the global issues by looking into not only the positive sides of the SDGs but also some problems that are preventing us from solving them.

As one of my reports for the ACE program, I made a video which shows some differences between Seoul National University and Rikkyo University. There were many differences between Rikkyo University, located in the busy city of Ikebukuro, and Seoul National University, located in the Gwanak Mountain with rich nature. I hope you enjoy the video.
